Teacher Salary Increase Allocation (TSIA): While $4 million in new funding has been allocated to teacher salary increases, the new legislation stipulates that only classroom teachers with at least 10 years of experience (of full-time teaching experience in a Florida public school) qualify to receive raises (capped at $3,000). In Volusia County, this would exclude 49.7% of instructional staff from receiving TSIA money. The new law also mandates that this bargaining be completed from July 1st-July 31st, before the District’s annual financial report is even available, or VCS and VUE will go to impasse.
